Truecaller,
a Sweden–based leading search technology company, has announced that
its Truecaller app has been downloaded 100 million times on the Google Play Store.
This milestone means Truecaller app is now part of the 109 apps that have been downloaded 100 million times in Google Play history.

The Truecaller app was first available on the Google Play store in 2009 when it was originally just called ‘Android Market’. Back then, the app only had a couple million users!
Since then, the app has gained massive traction and popularity across the world. In fact, the app was adjudged Best App of 2015 on Google Play.
The app has been particularly important in Africa. In 2015, Nigerians used to report a whopping 2 million spam calls, with a total of 120,000 spam and unwanted calls detected every day across the country.
Nigerians can block unwanted and spam calls they have reported to Truecaller, or receive assistance from the app’s database where spam numbers are listed and marked in red.
The Truecaller app was born out of the basic human need to get accurate access to information on those users want to contact as well as those information on sources users want to avoid, like robocalls or spam calls.
The Truecaller app can be downloaded for free on popular platforms such as Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Blackberry, Tizen and Nokia feature phones.
Truecaller, founded in 2009 and headquartered in Stockholm, is transforming the phonebook with its set of intelligent and useful services which are currently being used by over 200 million people across thee world.
